Our Commitment to the Planet
At Grupo Esmeralda, we understand that operating responsibly means going beyond regulatory compliance. That’s why, since 2006, we have built an environmental and social management model that we now recognize as the Sello Verde Esmeralda (Esmeralda Green Seal): over a decade of conscious decisions, clean technologies, international recognitions, and community impact programs.
Our commitment is not a statement of intentions. It is a documented track record of concrete, measurable actions, recognized by government entities, international organizations, and the community in which we operate.

Water is the central resource of our industrial operations. For that reason, we implemented, from an early stage, a comprehensive system for treating and reusing industrial effluents through our Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), recognized as one of the best of its kind in Latin America.
We are a certified Water-Responsible Company, with formal Water Footprint measurement since 2018 and current recognition awarded by AQUAFONDO in 2025.
Compact system: does not require large areas for installation, adaptable to our industrial infrastructure.
Stable system: responds efficiently to variations in volume and organic load.
High-quality treated water: the treated effluent meets the standards required for reuse in industrial activities and green areas.
Legal compliance: ensures full compliance with Peruvian environmental regulations and international standards.
100% reuse: all treated water is reincorporated into the production cycle or used for irrigating surrounding green areas.
Economic return: reusing the water resource reduces network water consumption and associated costs.
We are a certified Water-Responsible Company, with formal Water Footprint measurement since 2018 and current recognition awarded by AQUAFONDO in 2025.

2025
Since 2018, Grupo Esmeralda has measured and managed its Carbon Footprint as part of its sustainability strategy. This measurement allows us to identify the main sources of emissions across our operational chain and establish progressive reduction plans.
The early adoption of eco-friendly refrigerants (since 2009) was one of our first concrete steps in this direction, anticipating the sector’s regulatory requirements and demonstrating that sustainability can be a competitive advantage before it becomes an obligation.
Our ESG programs structure Grupo Esmeralda’s social commitment around four pillars:
Pigskin bandage program ('Destapando Sonrisas' / 'Uncapping Smiles') and other community health initiatives.
Health
Internal training for employees, external training for the Municipality of Chorrillos, San Juan de Miraflores, and SERNANP. Promotion of reading through environmental themes.
Education
Recycling of solid waste, canal cleanups, and direct-impact initiatives in the surrounding environment.
Community Assistance
Community integration programs focused on the wellbeing and quality of life of neighbors and employees.
Recreation and Sports
Our seal is not a logo: it is the result of over 15 years of decisions that prioritize water, air, soil, and the people who share the territory where we operate.
We continue measuring, improving, and building a company that stands as a benchmark for sustainability in Peru’s food industry.
